High Speed Two (HS2) is the new high-speed railway for Britain.

Drayton Bassett

Several local bridges, including Drayton Lane, A453 Sutton Road, and Bangley Lane have been delivered, with only waterproofing works remaining. As the wider programme is deferred, these sites will remain securely closed to the public, with ongoing land management to keep them well maintained. Next steps During 2026, we will be carrying out essential construction work in this area, including significant activity to complete the realignment of the A38. We HS2 continue to maintain and secure all work sites to ensure safety and minimise disruption.

Drayton Lane Bridge 

A38 Piling work

HS2 are doing piling works to construct the new Rykneld Street Overbridge from Monday 26 January 2026 for approximately 5 months. Traffic delays are expected.
